Ten found guilty of digital abuse targeting Brigitte Macron

A court in Paris has ruled against ten people for perpetrating the digital intimidation of Brigitte Macron, the partner of French President, Emmanuel Macron.
The defendants faced charges of spreading untruths regarding her sex and sexuality, in addition to making defamatory statements about the pair's age disparity of 24 years.
The court issued suspended jail terms of as much as eight months to the convicted individuals. The complete verdict has not yet been published.
A circulating unfounded claim alleging that Brigitte Macron is a trans woman has been in circulation since her husband's initial election in 2017.
This Monday's court decision in France is concurrent with the Macrons pursuing a libel case in the United States of America against conservative commentator Candace Owens, who has also voiced analogous false narratives about the first lady's gender.
Their legal filing contends that Owens ignored substantial counter-evidence that refuted her assertions opting to platforming known conspiracy theorists.
Owens has often echoed these claims on her show and social media channels, and in March 2024 declared that she would risk all her credibility on her belief that Mrs. Macron is in fact a man.
Brigitte Macron initially encountered her now-husband when she was a teacher at his secondary school.
The two married in 2007, when the then-29-year-old Emmanuel Macron was 29 and she was approximately 54 years old.
