US Military Targeted a 'Major Complex' in Venezuela, Trump Stated Without Offering Specifics.

Ex-President Trump has claimed that US military assets hit a "significant installation" in the South American country in recent days. However, the former president offered no details on the precise nature or location of the strike, and officials have issued no additional clarification from his team.

Vague Remarks Made During a Radio Interview

"US forces just eliminated – I'm not sure if you saw – they have a big plant, where the vessels depart from. The other night, we took it out. So we struck them with significant force," Trump reportedly said to Republican donor and supermarket owner John Catsimatidis in a recent interview.

Possible Implications of a Verified Attack

Should a US strike is confirmed, it would represent the initial ground target hit since the Pentagon began a buildup of US military presence in the region to interdict drug traffickers that the former administration asserts operate under the authority of Venezuelan leader Nicolás Maduro.

This original purpose of the military buildup has transformed into a blockade aimed at stopping the country's oil exports.

Social Media Footage and Official Statements

Trump has for weeks indicated that American military units are ready to expand the military campaign by hitting targets within Venezuela, a move that would theoretically require congressional authorization.

Video footage circulated online on 24 December appeared to show an explosion reportedly from an industrial zone in Zulia state. However, the footage or the site in question has not been corroborated.

An administration official reportedly told a media outlet that the former president was describing a drug facility in his remarks.

Response and Current Military Posture

The Venezuelan government has not commented on the alleged strike the former president referenced. Additionally, there have been no verified accounts from Venezuela concerning it.

The deployment of American forces in the region – a position some have termed a maritime "quarantine" – marks the broadest naval operation of Trump's presidency.

Officials have stopped short from calling the operation as a full blockade, but have confirmed that around 15,000 personnel are deployed across the Caribbean and the Gulf, including a carrier strike group, advanced fighter jets, and Coast Guard cutters to implement current sanctions.
